Dear Educator:
Free money for fieldtrip
transportation? That?s just what ArtsBusXpress is all about!
Here?s how we see it: developing young minds need the arts;
Federal law requires arts as core curriculum; teachers know the power of the
arts in transforming a child?s education; San Diego abounds with arts-rich
learning opportunities; student tickets are often free or discounted; plenty of
buses sit in parking lots every day. . .
So what?s missing? Money to pay for fieldtrip transportation!
Here?s where ArtsBusXpress enters the picture: by underwriting
transportation ? ?the missing link? ? schools can access arts and culture
opportunities in the greater community. It?s that simple. Teachers
apply for bus grants on line at www.sdabx.org. The result? For a few
dollars per child, the life-changing imprint of music, theatre, dance, art and
museums is being given to San Diego children ? over 93,000 of them, in fact, since ArtsBusXpress got on the road in October 2002.
Tackling fieldtrip transportation in an area the size of San
Diego County is daunting, but here?s why we should try: 500,000 children
stand to benefit. W e think of ourselves as ?The Little Engine That
Could,? and with your help, we?ll be saying ?I knew I could, I knew I could!?
To keep the buses moving ArtsBusXpress raises money from arts organizations,
businesses and corporations, community organizations, foundations, grants, and
individuals: $10.00 sends a child; $300 can send a busload.
