Mission Basilica SD de Alcalá

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá, the first of the 21 great California Missions, marks the birthplace of Christianity in the west coast of the United States. Founded in 1769, the mission serves as an active parish church and cultural center for people of all faiths to relive the grandeur and excitement of more than two centuries of California history and tradition. This remarkable and significant historical shrine provides an understanding and appreciation of the beginning of Catholicism in this corner of the world.

Maxine Theatre

Located in Valley Center, The Maxine Theatre hosts numerous musical performances and drama productions, bringing art and theatre to a variety of audiences. As a non-profit theatre, the Maxine provides a modern, 577 seat facility that is both elegant and available to a variety of organizations and events. In its work to provide artistic performances to students and teachers, the Maxine is a center for creative expression and entertainment for all.

Mission Trails Regional Park

Mission Trails Regional Park encompasses 7,220 acres of both natural and developed recreational areas. Its rugged hills, valleys and open areas represent San Diego prior to the landing of Cabrillo in San Diego Bay in 1542. Students can learn about the history of Mission Trails and its natural ecosystem through educational exhibits and engaging activities.

Museum of Making Music

The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad takes students in grades K-12 on a musical exploration of the people, historical events, and innovations that helped shape music and musical instruments. Led by a trained facilitator, students embark on creative thinking adventure featuring hundreds of instruments on display, music and video samples, and a variety of hands-on, group activities. The museum also provides complimentary student admission to qualifying Title One-designated schools.

Media Arts Center

San Diego’s Media Arts Center aims to offer resources in design and media to develop engaged and passionate communities through diversity and collaboration.  Featuring a movie theatre and a community technology center known as the Digital Gym, the Media Arts Center serves all ages. Events produced by MACSD are designed with inclusive programming, advocating for underrepresented populations from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. By changing the perspectives of the communities it serves, MACSD makes underserved stories seen and heard.

New Village Arts

New Village Arts produces full seasons of mainstage productions, and has done so for the past 18 years in the City of Carlsbad with award-winning actors, designers and directors. To date, New Village has received over 30 Critics Circle Awards honoring the work done on NVA’s mainstage and regularly receives “Critic’s Choice” designations from leading reviewers. Surrounding these productions, NVA hosts talkback discussions and other supplementary events designed to create conversation and cultivate community.
