Since taking flight in the early 2000s, Cygnet Theatre has grown into one of San Diego’s largest theatre companies. We are proud of our nearly two decades of producing quality live professional theatre year round. Adventurous, entertaining and thought-provoking, Cygnet’s season selections embrace musicals from classic American canon alongside regional premieres, and our Bill & Judy Garret Finish Line Commission supports original work in a meaningful way. In short, admirers of professional quality theatre and dynamic growth in the arts will find Cygnet’s accessibility and authenticity attractive, welcoming and exciting.

Our venue is located in the heart of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, which retains its historic authenticity and style, while providing dozens of opportunities for modern day visitor to eat, play, learn.

How do practicing artists adapt existing works of art from one medium or audience to another? How do we decide what to cut? And what do we add or bring to the work? Using scene templates from Chekhov’s classic drama Uncle Vanya, Resident Teaching Artist Tim West* uses brief bits of dialog to guide students through a fun exercise that results in unique shareable scene work.
