Explore the components of a watershed and learn how your 4th grade students can become Watershed Heroes!  This program begins with a pre-recorded adventure through a local San Diego watershed with a San Diego Zoo educator and Dr. Zoolittle.  Along the way, students will learn the components of a watershed, meet local species that depend on a healthy watershed, and learn how they can protect wildlife and habitats through specific conservation action steps.

After students have completed the asynchronous introduction, they will be ready to join our zoo educators for a virtual tour of global watersheds at the San Diego Zoo! This live, interactive program utilizes behind the scenes presentations and live webcams to explore watersheds and wildlife from around the world. Students will also be empowered to follow their curiosity and research independently through explicit instruction on accessing and navigating San Diego Zoo Kids online resources. This engaging, interactive program culminates by challenging students to become Watershed Heroes by committing to at least one conservation action step. Teachers may choose to supplement and extend the learning with our online curriculum!
