For some students, it may be their first visit to:

a cultural institution,
an environmental preserve,
or a college campus.
These experiences do more than enrich classroom learning. They spark curiosity, expand horizons, build confidence, and help students imagine new possibilities for their future.
But for many schools, especially Title I schools, one barrier stands in the way:
Transportation.
When schools cannot afford buses, students miss opportunities that could inspire lifelong learning, creativity, and aspiration.

Yet even when programs, exhibits, performances, and educational experiences are available, many students cannot participate because schools lack transportation funding.

Why Out-of-Classroom Learning Matters
Research consistently shows that experiential learning and educational field trips strengthen student engagement, improve retention, and deepen learning outcomes.
Studies referenced by Wilson College on August 26, 2024, show that experiential learning increases student motivation, critical thinking, confidence, and long-term knowledge retention by helping students connect classroom concepts to real-world experiences.
More recent research, published in July 2025, from the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning also highlights the important role educational field trips play in supporting students’ personal development, emotional well-being, and social growth.
The Growing Access Gap:
Demand exceeds available funding by nearly 50% year over year. For many schools, the educational experience is available. The missing link is simply the ability to get there — transportation.
No student should miss the bus because of financial barriers.
Over 250,000 students transported since 2002; one bus serves about 60 students, but costs range from $350 - $1,250.

Tickets may be discounted or free. The bus is not. Without the bus, field trips don’t happen. Future audiences dwindle because students weren’t exposed to these opportunities during their formative school years.
